The Uganda National Bureau of Standards has developed a mobile phone powered traceability and electronic verification service called E-Tag designed to reduce counterfeit and substandard consumer commodities on the market.
The standards Agency estimates the prevalence of counterfeit and substandard products on the Ugandan market at 40% of the total local supply.
