(17 Jan 2015) Fire broke out on Saturday near the Manila port area, damaging makeshift homes, but with no reports of any casualties.
Many of the residents brought out their belongings on the streets, including religious statues.
The Manila port area is near the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, where Pope Francis will officiate Mass on Sunday.
The Mass is expected to be attended by millions of Filipinos.
