Throughout the year the sun's path and the solar altitude vary. In Europe, for example, the solar altitude during summer reaches 60°-65° whereas in winter solar angles are as low as 13° - 18°.
The default value is a tilt angle equal to the station's latitude plus 15 degrees in winter, or minus 15 degrees in summer. This normally maximizes annual energy production.
✔ In the Northern hemisphere, the solar panel should face the Southern sky.
✔ The tilt of the panel should be equal to the latitude of the geographical location.
✔ The panel does not track the sun but the tilt can be changed each season for more efficiency.
