Clogged variable-geometry turbocharger will restrict nozzles movement which can cause power loss, engine trouble code and limp mode. In engines: Volvo 2.0D, Ford 2.0TDCi, Peugeot/Citroen 2.0HDI 136PS turbocharger is located behind the engine which makes it hard to access in order to disassemble and clean VNT mechanism from soot and carbon deposits that causes problems.
There is a way that lets you clean your VGT without disassembling turbocharger from your car. After removing EGR valve and EGR cooler you can insert carbon dissolving agent through the exhaust manifold. After 45 minutes carbon deposits and soot will be dissolved by the oven cleaner and your variable nozzle turbine will again move in full range.
Notice that this method is experimental. You are doing it at your own risk. Do not inhale chemical fumes and do not touch it with your skin.
