Cap cay can be made as a vegetarian dish or you can mixed with seafood, meats or chicken. The type and numbers vegetables differ according to recipe variations and the availability of vegetables in each household, but the most common vegetables in simple cap cay are cauliflower, carrot an cabbage.
There is a thousands recipes for cap cay so make your favorite recipe and do your own modification :)
The history behind cap cay :
The word "Cap cay" means : mixed vegetables in Chinese Fujian dialect. But in other dialect "cap" can be means of "ten" in fact how many types of vegetables is not important.
In some of recipes they use ginger and also Chinese cooking wine. But not everybody have cooking wine at home and like what i said, there is a lot of variant of cap cay. I just use the simple recipe so everybody can straight away make it at home with left over vegetables.
So that's a bit story behind "cap cay" dish

Cap cay
Ingredients :
- Cauliflower
- Chinese cabbages
- Sweet peas
- Green beans
- Carrot
- Onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- Spring Onion
- 1 spoon of cornstarch (mix with a bit water)
- 1 spoon of oyster sauce
- 1 spoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- Salt and pepper
- A water or vegetable stock

Ingredienten
- Bloemkool
- Chinese kool
- Sluimererwten
- Boontjes
- Wortel
- Ui
- 2 teentjes look
- Lente ui
- 1 lepel maiszetmeel (mengen met water)
- 1 lepel oestersaus
- 1 lepel sojasaus
- 1 theelepel sesamolie
- Zout en peper
- Een beetje water of groenten bouillon

Cap cay kuah
Bahan-bahan :
- Kembang kol
- Sawi putih
- Kapri
- Buncis
- Wortel
- Bawang bombay
- 2 siung bawang putih
- Daun bawang
- 1 sendok maizena (campur dan aduk rata dengan sedikit air)
- 1 sendok saus tiram
- 1 sendok kecap asin
- 1 sendok teh minyak wijen
- Garam dan merica
- Sedikit air atau kaldu sayur cair
*silahkan menambahkan daging, ayam, sosis, bakso, atau yang lainnya.
