Guys, it seems I have an addiction. I have another bike.

I saw this advertised on eBay and straight away I saw the “mountain LX” groupset. I remember reading this was quite a high level groupset (only topped by Deore) and the bike didn’t look too bad. Obviously the saddle, grips and bars were a bi toasty but the rest looked ok.

I put an initial bid on and watched as someone started to bid against me. No usually I’d wait till the last few seconds but I decided to push it and bid them up. Weirdly, they stopped at £15 and nobody else decided to bid. Bargain. I actually gave the seller £20 as I think it’s worth it.

In the light of day, it needs a good clean, a good grease and obviously all the “consumables” replaced but there’s also a few more rust spots than the pictures showed. Once I start stripping it down and cleaning it up I’ll see how the paint looks. I may end up powdercoating it, but if I can save the original and make it look good, I will.

So here it is, another retro MTB.
