Basophil - the least abundant type of white blood cell. It is filled with histamine storage granules, like the mast cell, but the mast cell resides in tissue.
Granule - think of a tiny bubble inside the cell, made of cell membrane material (lipid bilayer). Granules are for storage. In the mast cell and basophil, they store histamine.
IgE - immunoglobulin type E, one of the 5 types of antibodies, specifically involved in allergic reactions.
Neurotransmission - the passage of information from one neuron to the next via transmission across the synaptic cleft.
Vesicle - another term for granule.
