We start by carefully loosening the old soil and washing the roots to assess their condition, ensuring that any tangled or circling roots are removed to avoid future issues. Then, we transplant the tree into a pond basket, which stimulates the growth of numerous roots in a short time by air-pruning the roots at the pot's edges, resulting in a denser root system.

When it comes to working on Junipers, it's essential to avoid rushing the process of wiring and repotting in the same year, as this can put undue stress on the tree. This is especially important with specimen trees, and I recommend taking a more cautious approach. Instead of repotting and wiring in the same year, consider repotting first, waiting a year for the tree to recover, and then returning to work on the foliage.

This approach is particularly prudent to ensure that the tree remains healthy and doesn't suffer from excessive stress. Remember, taking things slow and steady is often the best way to ensure long-term success with your Juniper Bonsai.
