STORYLINE:
Exiled Tibetans and their German supporters staged a demonstration in Berlin on Sunday to protest the crackdown on Tibetan protesters and the ensuing violence in March which Chinese officials say killed 22 people, a figure which exiled Tibetans have contested and put at 140.
Dozens of protesters held photos of the Dalai Lama, Tibetan flags and banners denouncing violence in Tibet.
The Dalai Lama is scheduled to visit Germany in May.
Many of those marching have been calling for talks between Tibet and China's government.
"I think it is important that one supports dialogue rather than the violence. It is an important motto and I think it is important that the Chinese realise that the Tibetans are open for dialogue with all the justified requests regarding the situation in Tibet," Kai Mueller of the NGO Tibet initiative told AP Television at the demonstration.
There have also been demonstrations in China on Sunday - but against the French supermarket Carrefour.
China has urged its citizens to be "calm" and "rational" as nationalistic protests spread to more cities across the country.
There has also been a backlash against Western media for what is perceived as biased reporting on recent unrest in Tibet.
"It just looks like China is becoming more nationalistic. I think forces in China which form part of nationalism are getting stronger," said one demonstrator in Berlin.
Starting their protest in front of the Chinese embassy in Berlin, Tibetan demonstrators then marched towards the city's Brandenburg Gate.
