Demonstrations were held across Indonesia on Oct 2, with an estimated 150,000 workers protesting labour, wage and health insurance regulations. They were urging parliament not to revise the labour law. The government had said it wants to improve the labour ecosystem to attract investments and create better job opportunities. However, workers said revisions to the law offer firms greater flexibility on employment status and wages, piling further burden on workers instead.
