Hari Om !!
Swamiji summarises the important concepts taught by him in the previous 9 lectures.
Verse 64: This verse reveals to us how the Lord is compassionate with His devotees! Here, Swamiji advises us to develop a relationship with the Lord as Arjuna had developed. Once that relationship is developed, the Lord will go out of His way to make sure we do not err!
Verse 65: In this verse, the Lord explains how to become His devotee. While explaining this, Swamiji tells us the true meaning of the word surrender, and ask us to make God our highest priority in life.
Verse 66: This verse is the last advice of Bhagavān and is one of the most famous verses from the Gītā . Here Lord is asking us to surrender all our dharma to Him and promises to free us from all our griefs and sins.
Swamiji explains the concept of dharma at three levels – simple basic meaning, dharma as duties, and the most important being our wrong notion of identification with BMI. All these three levels of dharma need to be surrendered to the Lord.
The Lord’s teaching is over!
Verse 67: In this verse, Bhagavān instructs not to share this knowledge with ātapaskāya (who does not do austerity) ābhaktāya (atheist), āśhuśhrūṣhave (arrogant), abhyasūyati (criticises Lord). Swamiji logically convinces us why this should be avoided.
Verse 68: Bhagavān in this verse explains to whom this knowledge must be given.
Verse 69: Bhagavān in this verse, glorifies the teacher of Bhagavad Gītā . But why?
While answering this question, Swamiji explains to us why atma vidya danam (giving knowledge of the Self) is the highest danam.
• It makes us see oneness in all things, that we are all One Pure Consciousness.
• In vastra danam ( donation of clothes) and anna danam (donation of food) the vision does not change.
• As a result of this vision of oneness, dharma saṃsthāpana happens. The Lord takes birth for dharma Saṃsthāpana.
• The vision of oneness ensures that value, love, peace, and harmony in the society is established.
• This knowledge kills the sinner in a person and transforms him to be a saint. (Ratnakar to Rishi Valmiki)
• This beautiful transformation happens without harming a person physically.
This was the vision of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanada when he started Gītā Jñāna yajña. Our Humble prostrations to him.
Verse 70: Bhagavān glorifies Gītā ’s student in this verse. Bhagavān says who does Gītā Jñāna yajña i.e., studies Gītā, worships Me.
Swamiji tells us that it is from this verse, our Pujya Gurudev got the word Jñāna yajña and Gurudev considered this as his worship of the Lord.
Verse 71: The glory of Bhagavad Gītā is that even a casual listener, listening with faith will reach higher Lokas.
Verse 72: The infinite compassion of Lord is again seen in this verse as He asks Arjuna if he still has ignorance. If yes, He offers to make him understand it in other different ways.
What should be the nature of the teacher, is beautifully exhibited by the Lord in this verse.
Verse 73: Arjuna says to Bhagavān that with His grace, he has gained a clear understanding of the right knowledge and he is ready to do whatever Bhagavān asks him to do.
As the teaching concludes, Bhagavān is silent, and the student is silent because he has understood it.
Verse 74 and 75: Sanjay expresses his blessedness and gratitude towards
Vyāsa Mahaṛṣi due to whose grace he was privileged to listen to this great conversation between Krishna and Arjuna.
Verse 76 and 77: Sanjay continues to express his bliss and joy which he is experiencing again and again.
Verse78: This is another very famous verse of the Gītā .
While explaining this verse, Swamiji assures us that wherever Bhagavān (Sri Krishna), Bhakta (Arjuna) and Bhakti (relationship between them) is there, then śhrīḥ (wealth), vijayḥ (victory) , bhūtir (prosperity) and nītiḥ (righteousness) has to be there.
A seeker who seeks the Lord of the universe is represented by Arjuna here! We are all Arjuna!
