Gmail has a feature where you can send emails using its confidential mode which will allow you to do things such as set an expiration date on the message as well as require a text or SMS message to be sent to the recipient's phone with a passcode that they will need to use to view the email. You can also do things like prevent them from printing, forwarding, downloading and copying the email
The process of sending a confidential email to a Gmail and an outside, non Gmail user is the same, but the results will vary. It works better if you are using this between Gmail accounts and this video shows you examples of both a Gmail and external account receiving a confidential email.
