The Skalka Cafe was started in Seattle Downtown in late 2019 by two immigrants from Georgia and Russia who were trying to prove that authentic Eastern-European food should taste delicious and look phenomenal.
Skalka's name was chosen to emphasize that simplicity is at the core of what we do; Skalka comes from a Russian word for a simple tool that has become synonymous with baking worldwide.

If you're planning to come here, bring someone with you! From the pictures I saw on Instagram, it looked like just enough food for one person, but after seeing it in person, I was sorely mistaken; by the last bite, I was so stuffed almost to the point of no return. The flavor was oddly delicious; Who knew that a runny egg yolk would taste so good on a layer of cheese and butter?!?!
