Research from the Lancet Commission on Diagnostic shows that only 1 in 2 people have access to basic testing services — and access to diagnostic testing is a major challenge in low-and-middle income countries. This year, stakeholders in global health passed a resolution on strengthening diagnostics capacity. Observers say it is a significant step towards improving access to quality and accurate diagnostic tests, however, they say, more needs to be done to ensure better access to quality diagnostic tools and expertise in developing countries.
