In this new phase of her scientific work, Phoebe takes on the controversial topic of human population pressure on the Earth's ecological systems. "Population control" has often been a code word for racist or colonial analyses, but Phoebe believes the issue must be addressed, along with its companion issue, hyper-consumption.
The empowerment of women and girls must be central to any effort to address population and consumption. The new website GirlPlanet.earth collects the stories of women and girls from around the world. [ Ссылка ]
Phoebe believes in the power of action, from the individual to the global level. She says she has a "genetic disposition to be cheerful," and that we must act now to make the world safe for the generations that will follow us.
