Shell Landing in Vernon Florida is a gorgeous place to launch your boat.
Right on Holmes Creek and approximately 5 miles to reach the springs, it's not a bad spot to start your adventure either ..just be prepared for the mighty Choctawhatchee River that can have strong currents. This trip I would recommend doing a one way trip, downstream, otherwise youll be exhausted and even worse, hard pressed to make it back against that river current. So Kayakers & Canoers Beware!
On the Bright side, when you Do reach the spring run, you'll certainly be rewarded!
The info I found for the discharge rate hasn't been updated for some time, so the flow rate could vary... But it was approximately 34.3 cfs.
It was enough that you could see it boiling on the top of the surface of the water. It was an absolutely gorgeous spring!
Let's keep it that way, by disposing of cans and any trash in the proper receptacles! Remember, Pack out your Trash!
