Jessica focuses on changes of her identity throughout her life as being a young little girl born in America to who she is now. She mainly elaborates on how we do not need to change ourselves in order to fit and match the standards of others, and that we need to reconcile differences. Jessica Woo is a freshman at Daegu International School. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to South Korea when she was 4 years old. She loves reading as a hobby and enjoys putting her thoughts about novels on paper. As a little girl, Jessica has been interested in speaking in front of others and has joined the speech and debate team during her middle school years. Because she thinks cultural identity is an essential element of knowing yourself, Jessica has been very enthusiastic about this year’s theme: “Generational Echoes”. She is excited to share her ideas viewing cultural identity and traditions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
