The eastern Libyan city of Derna, the epicenter of the disaster, had a population of around 100,000 before the tragedy. Authorities say that at least 10,000 remain missing. Storm Daniel tore through eastern Libya, erasing entire residential areas. Officials say 20,000 people are feared dead and as many as 9,000 more are missing.
