Supplies Needed:

*Sandpaper (80, 120, 220 grit) [ Ссылка ]
*Primer and paint (or stain, if preferred) [ Ссылка ]
*Paintbrushes or foam roller [ Ссылка ]
*New hardware (optional) [ Ссылка ]
*Painter's tape
*Drop cloth
*Wood filler (if needed)
*Jig saw (Optional) [ Ссылка ]
*polyurethane [ Ссылка ]
Step 1: Prep the Dresser
Start by removing all drawers and hardware (handles, knobs).
Wipe down the dresser to remove dust and debris. (I clean first if the dresser is very dirty or grassy)
If there are any scratches or holes, fill them in with wood filler and let it dry completely.
Step 2: Sanding
I used chemical stripper for the top and the top 2 drawers to sped up the sanding process, but you can sand the entire surface of the dresser with medium-grit sandpaper (80-120 grit) to remove the old finish.
Follow up with finer grit (220) for a smooth finish.
Wipe off any dust with a damp cloth.
Step 3: Priming
Apply a coat of primer to help the paint adhere better, especially if the dresser is dark or has a glossy finish.
Let the primer dry completely before moving to the next step.
Step 4: Painting and Staining
Choose a paint color that matches your style. Apply the first coat using a brush or roller, making sure to go with the grain of the wood.
Let the paint dry before applying a second coat.
For the top and top 2 drawers, i used a paint wash method. Use 85% water and 15% paint off your chose. If you prefer a stained finish, apply the stain with a cloth, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe off the excess.
Step 5: Seal the Finish (Optional)
For added durability, apply a clear topcoat or polyurethane sealant.
This step is especially important if the dresser will be used frequently.
Step 5: Add New Hardware
Install new knobs or handles to give your dresser a fresh, modern look.
This simple change can make a huge difference in the overall appearance.
