The Beijing Xiangshan Forum that is taking place from Thursday (Sep 12) to Saturday is not a radical departure from any other military forum, says Dr Benjamin Ho, assistant professor at S Rajaratnam School of International Studies’ China Programme. The forum, styled as China’s answer to the Shangri-La Dialogue, has been a platform for the country to put forth its voice about regional and global affairs and set the agenda as to what it finds important, he tells CNA’s Asia First. This year’s agenda includes topics such as artificial intelligence, ongoing regional conflicts and security in outer space.
