Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Resigns From Congress, Likely To Join BJP
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Monday resigned from the core membership of the Congress party and is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chauhan has today written a letter to party state president Nana Patole in this regard and has also sent his resignation as an MLA to state assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar.
According to sources, Chavan is likely to join the BJP along with some senior leaders, including sitting MLAs. Along with this, the political upheaval has intensified in the whole of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP State President Ashish Shelar have reached the BJP office. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has left for Delhi.
