The jungles of Costa Rica are home to rich and lush soundscapes.
All through the night, insects and frogs call tirelessly. The owls don't do it too often but their hoots are a reminder that birds live here too. As soon as the horizon starts to lighten up, a troop of howler monkeys make themselves heard by doing what they know best: uttering their bone-chilling howls. A lone tinamou voices its annoyance at being woken up so rudely. Macaws and parakeets have no problem waking up everyone with their raspy calls. Toucans join in with their yapping sounds and motmots remember about their bubbling calls as well.
After a while the dawn chorus is in full force. Birdsong seems to be coming from everywhere around. There is a lot of movement in the undergrowth. The thick fog turns into light rain as it condensates on leaves and vegetation. It's another lovely and lush dawn chorus in the thick jungles of Costa Rica's Osa peninsula.
