India has bolstered its military presence and ramped up infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, a region that it shares a border with China. The remote Himalayan area has long been the centre of a boundary dispute between the two countries, with tensions escalating since mid-2020 after a hand-to-hand battle that reportedly killed at least 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers.
