John McGready interviews three members of the SMART (Statistical Methods and Applications for Research in Technology ) working group at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Associate Professor Ciprian Crainiceanu, researcher Elizabeth Sweeney and PhD student John Muschelli discuss the major statistical challenges and recent developments in detecting legions in brain imaging data. Much of their work thus far has been with regards to subjects with Multiple Sclerosis and patients who have experienced a stroke.
