Natarajasana Yoga | Dancer Pose Yoga | How to do Natarajasana | Asana Alignment #3
Nataraja is one of the many names of Lord Shiva. It is his dancing avatar, through which his love for music, dance, and art is depicted. Natarajasana is an advanced balance pose that brings grace, peace of mind and clarity. The pose is additionally a deep backbend that requires great strength in the entire front line of the body. The Front line of the body extends from the quadriceps, through the hips, abdominals, chest and even the front of the throat.
Hello and welcome to Shvasa. In the previous yoga video, you had learned how to do Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) in the right way. In this video, you will be able to learn Natarajasana or Dancer’s pose.

Step by Step Guide to Natarajasana or Dancer’s Pose:
- Stand in the middle of the mat fold your right leg, hold on to the ankle for a firm grip with four fingers, and your thumb separated
- Grip on to the ankle (not the foot) & place the other hand on the hip
- Bend the standing knee slightly without opening the hip to the side
- Now start to take right leg back as much as you can
- Once you are stable, you can extend your left hand towards the ceiling
- Fix your gaze at one point and balance
- Stay there for 5 breaths and back to centre
- Repeat this on the other side
