The PGA TOUR Champions heads to Florida this week for the inaugural World Champions Cup. The event will be a three-day, three-way competition pitting accomplished competitors from the U.S., Europe, and the rest of the world. Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, in the twilight of great careers, will team up for the Internationals this week. Els has three PGA TOUR Champions wins, with his second coming this season at the Hoag Classic in March. Retief Goosen has claimed two PGA TOUR Champions wins at the 2019 Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship and the 2022 Hoag classic and will rely on the chemistry built with Els over their numerous matches at the Presidents Cup. Ex-Ryder Cup pairing Colin Montgomerie and Darren Clarke will be playing with each other in Friday’s morning session. Montgomerie has claimed five PGA TOUR Champions titles, including three major wins on the TOUR. Former Open Championship winner Clarke had four wins on the Champions Tour including a major win at The Senior Open Championship last year. 17-time Champions Tour winner Steve Stricker will also be teeing it up in Florida this week for Team USA. As will former PGA Championship winner and four-time victor on the Champions Tour, David Toms. Other players to look out for are Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh and Steven Alker.
