Maurilio "Milo" Manara (Italian, b. 1945).
Pencil and India ink on illustration paper/board, 47.6 x 36 cm, 1995.
A full-page splash illustration (page #11) from Milo Manara's comic, GULLIVERIANA (Paris: Les Humanoïdes Associés, 1996). Originally published in Italy in 1995.
The image features the character Gullivera (although unnamed in the story), who finds herself shipwrecked in the land of the Lilliputians and is initially captured by the miniature people in the same manner as was Swift's Gulliver.
This was Manara's erotic take on Jonathan Swift's GULLIVER'S TRAVELS (1726), a tale of adventure through some rather fantastic lands that is seen by many as a work of proto-science fiction, if not one of the first works of SF. It was also very pointedly a social satire. Manara's erotic take on Swift contains nudity, innuendo, and some light scenes of BDSM, but no actual sex.
(See comments section for the published page in French and English.)
Manara is, of course, internationally famous as one of the long-established masters of twentieth century European erotica in the comics medium with a distinctly recognisable soft and sensual style.
