The point I wanted to make is that hypnosis and therapy are not magic. People just think it's a case of paying the money, turning up and sitting there as something changes your life. Not going to happen. It is up to YOU to find the relevant things and for YOU to make a sustained effort over many weeks/months to finally be rid of the problem. Anyone selling you a quick fix solution or guaranteed result in minutes is just saying that to sell you something.
How therapy DOESN'T work (Hollywood nonsense):
You go to see a hypnotist who puts you into a trance with their special powers. They control your mind and plant suggestions in it that you're going to feel safe and calm while driving. You wake up with all of your problems instantly gone and can drive normally again after years of anxiety.
How therapy DOES work (in the real world):
You work with a therapist to discover events that caused anxiety to surface later in life. Realising what these events are will give you a huge sense of relief and will get rid of 80% of the problem. Over the coming weeks and months, you have to keep working on the problem by constantly facing the situation that used to scare you until your mind gets used to the new way of handling it.
