NORORIOUS INTERSTATE ATTENTION DIVERSION GANG OF FOUR
MEMBERS FROM TAMILNADU STATE NABBED IN A JOINT OPERATION By
SOT LB NAGAR, CCS TEAM AND VANASTHALIPURAM POLICE OFLB NAGAR
ZONE RECOVERED 4.1 LAKH NET CASH, TATA INDICA CAR, 15 KGs OP
GANJA AND 6 MOBILES ALL WORTH Rs. 6.8 LAKHS (SIX LAKHS AND EIGHTY
THOUSAND) FROM THEIR POSSESSION.

Acting on tip off special Operation Team LB Nagar Zone, CCS Team and
Vanasthalipuram police intercepted a car in Autonagar area of Vanasthalipuram
on 14th August early morning and on scientific investigation arrested 4 members
of the "Ramjinagar gang" namely 1.Deepak Deepu 2. Sathyaraj 3.Yogesh and
4.Suresh who had stolen cash brought to upload in ATM Rs. 58,97,600/- from
parked Tata Vista vehicle, bearing No: APO9TV 2864 in Vanashthalipuram PS
limits. The notorious interstate attention diversion gang members lure victims by
diverting the attention of innocent people by placing Rs. 500, 200, 100/- notes in
front of the vehicle parked along roadside and commit theft of cash.

2 Thangaraj Sathyaraj S/o Late Thangaraj, Age: 31 Years,
R/o: H.No.1/93, Sarvekara Street, Mallaipatti, Ramjinagar, Tiruchirapalli
Dist, Tamilnadu State.

3] Yoga raj S/o Arumugam, Age: 23 Years, R/o: H. No. 3/103, Gandhinagar
Street, Mill colony, Punganur Village, Ramjinagar, Tiruchirapali Dist,
Tamilnadu State.

4] Suresh S/o Ravi, Age: 36 Years, Occ: Car Driver, R/o: H. No. 31, Ashok
Nagar 2nd cross, Thandhonimalli, Karur Dist, Tamilnadu State.

MODUS OPERANDI:
Ramjinagar gang consisting of 10 to 14 members. The gang adopted a unique
modus operandi. After identifying a vehicle parked along a roadside or outside of
the Banks/ATMs. The gang would ensure that the driver was seated in the vehicle
that they planned to target. Then, a gang member would strew around five to ten
Rs. 500, 200, 100 notes near the vehicle. Another gang member would then tell the
driver that his money had fallen on road. The remaining members will be watching
the moment of the public and when the driver would get down of the vehicle to
check, the other gang members would decamp with valuables kept in the vehicle.

APPEAL:

It is an appeal to all the public that the notorious interstate attention diversion
gangs are sprawling in the city and committing offences with different modus
operandi.

1. Divert the attention of the victim by dropping a few currency notes and
decamp with the booty from the vehicle.
2. By sprinkling some itching powder on the victims shirt or engaging him
or her in verbal communication and once the attention of the victim is
diverted, the gang malke good with the cash bag or gold ornaments.
3. Eager sales men bringing you exciting amazing offers, discounts at your
Doorsteps and some of them knock on your doors pretending to be
salesmen and loot women at knifepoint especially homemakers
4. Cheating by exhibiting fake gold ornaments and looting original gold
Ornaments.
5. Interstate attention diversion gangs are never confined to one place, they
come to city for a few days, loot and immediately leave with the booty.
Sometimes, they will be on a spree committing series of offences.
Hence it is caution to the public to be more attentive when cash is
withdrawn/huge amount is carried to deposit in banks/ATMs and not to meet any
stranger while carrying cash and not to give any scope to the offenders to commit
the offence.
