The Old Frisian legal texts are not only known for their poetic tone and style, but also because they are a unique treasure in the world of science. The enthusiasm for these texts is shared by a new generation of scientists studying Old Frisian, some of whom have a Frisian background but others do not. Professor in Dutch-language literature Frits van Oostrom believes it is very important that these texts are not only studied in Friesland, but that their value and impact are recognized on a broader, international level.
