2023 Yamaha YZ450F vs 2023 KTM 450SXF back to back on an old school GP track! Two of my current favorite 450 moto bikes.
The all new 2023 Yamaha YZ450F has been my favorite 450F moto bike with a 2-stroke like quick revving engine and mass centralization agility. Brad at RideWorx ( [ Ссылка ] ) did the suspension on my '23 YZ450F. This '23 450SXF is brand new (about 1.5 hours) so the suspension and engine are still breaking in.
23 YZ450F Lap Time 2:05.1
The engine on the '23 YZ450F stands out every time I ride this bike! Such 2-stroke like quick revving and barky throttle response - can be a bit much for some and it can be toned down a little with the Yamaha Power Tuner app. The valving in the KYB suspension that Brad came up with for a Vet moto rider looking for a bit more comfort over the stock setting provides a more planted feel overall especially on the little chop and at lower speeds. Still good ramp up of damping force on bigger inputs and also better than stock over repeated inputs like braking bumps.
23 450SXF Lap Time 2:04.5
Like all new 2023 KTM 4-stroke models the suspension on these bikes feels stiff along with the chassis so lots of feedback for the first few rides (especially the first 1~5 hours of ride time). I did change the suspension setting for this ride by lowering the fork pressure and opening the clickers front and back which helped make the bike feel more planted and absorbing over the bumps. This engine has such smooth and easy to ride power - total opposite of the YZ450F - with quick but controlled throttle response that builds engine RPM's in a linear fashion.
The YZ450 and 450SXF are both very fun yet completely different feeling bikes
