Flood zones in Florida, not just Panama City Beach, can be confusing whether you thinking of moving to Florida with a family, contemplating condos for sale in Florida, moving to Florida from NY, joining the new Latitude Margaritaville family on the Emerald Coast Florida.... whatever the case may be here is a brief overview of flood zones for the state. Basically, all of Florida is a flood zone considering the state is a peninsula as well as we sit at sea level. There are, however, different zones throughout the state and even different from neighbor to neighbor. This is a quick and dirty about Flood Zone designations and what implications it may have on you as you search for your perfect property.
FEMA flood insurance is NOT required for every property. There are a myriad of factors. Your realtor is able to quickly check what zone your property is in while you look. General rule of thumb is the closer to the water you are the higher the likelihood it will be required. If you are in a flood zone X then insurance is optional and at the time of this video it averaged about $600 annually for the optional coverage.
