In Haripur Gas Field, Sylhet, Bangladesh, this pond was created back in 1953. Since then, bubbles have been coming up and one can light up the bubbles gathering them all together. Methane Gas (NH4) is pumping the bubbles to be blown up, actually. A myth is told that the then Pakistani authority while came in drilling the first well to extract natural gas, was warned by a Darwish (spiritually gained powerful person) not to do that as he resided next to the well site and that he prayed from there to his creator. But the digger didn't keep the request and during the digging work had started, fire flares went up in the sky and fireballs were shot off here and there within a parameter of 0.5 kilometers. One such fireball eventually created the pond.
If you go to ever visit the Haripur Gas Filed site, you can watch it in your own eyes.
