Male: Today on our 2014 Buick Enclave we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Beta aluminum folding 2-bike rack for 2" trailer hitches, part number B202-2. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, the cradles themselves are fixed in these position, but they do have grooves in them, so once you sit your bike in place, the cables for the brakes and such can actually fit into these grooves and not get smashed against your frame. It holds your bike at three points. We're going to have two straps up at the top and one off to the side.
That's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and possibly hitting the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that you just push in on the top portion of the tabs here. That will release them. We'll lift our bike up and off. With the bike rack in this position I'm going to go ahead and take a quick measurement here.
From the edge of our bumper to our outer edge here we've added about 23-1/2" to the rear of the vehicle. Our ground clearance to this edge is going to be about 14-1/2". Our closest point is going to be about 2" to this knob here. From the center of the hitch pinhole to that same point is going to be about 7". Just keep that in mind if you have a different style hitch installed on your Enclave. Now if you're going to park this in your garage or you need more clearance in the rear, these arms do fold down.
To do that we'll go to this pin and clip here up at the top, pull the pin out, let the arms fold down, and then reinsert the pin. Now with it in this position, again measuring from the edge of the bumper, now we've only added about 9-1/2". That actually made quite a bit of difference. Now if you want rear hatch access, to do that we'll first loosen up the back knob here, then remove this pin and clip. Now before we let it tilt forward we'll reinsert the pin and clip through the hole at the bottom here so it will catch it. Now we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need.
Hopefully it doesn't creak that much. We'll go ahead and push this back up into position and reinstall our pin and clip. Then we'll retighten this bolt on the back. Now how this actually attaches to the hitch, this is going to be pretty much a tool-free installation. We're going to have a locking pin that goes through our hitch pinhole. Then we'll actually have this anti-rattle knob at the end. You'll just turn it to the right to tighten it up. That will take the shake and play out of the shank. Once you lock the pin into place, now it's secured to your vehicle as well. There you have it for the Kuat Beta 2-bike rack, part number B202-2, on our 2014 Buick Enclave. Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Finally, we have the full speed bumps, where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
