(19 Jul 2019) Dozens of high-performance muscle cars were driven though the Puerto Rico capital San Juan on Thursday evening in the latest protest against the territory's embattled governor, Ricardo Rossello.
The drivers, from a car enthusiasts' club, were aiming to reach the Governor's Mansion, but were foiled by the narrow streets and a heavy police presence.
The protest featured members of "Puerto Rico Fever," a club for owners of muscle cars similar to those in the movie "Fast and Furious".
Drivers gathered in Plaza Colon, about six blocks from the Fortaleza, which was the scene of violent clashes Wednesday night between demonstrators and police.
The protesters want Rosselloto resign over corruption and leaked chats by officials in his administration.
The leak of hundreds of pages of online chats showed the governor and his aides trading vulgar jokes and insults about women, gays and even victims of 2017's Hurricane Maria.
