In anticipation of the University Library’s forthcoming exhibition of Japanese books, Dr Tinios offers a wide-ranging introduction to the illustrated book in early modern Japan. Products of creative interplay between artists and publishers, they are original works of art issued in multiples. Their design, production, marketing and content will be explored.
