In order to improve quickness you need to use the best quickness drills; in order to improve your shooting you need to use the best shooting drills. This one drill does both of those - it improves your foot quickness (ground contact time) while improving your 3-point shooting ability.
If you've ever wondered how come players like Derrick Rose and Chris Paul are able to dominate on the offensive end, it's because of their ability to combine athleticism with skill. They have used the best quickness drills to improve their footwork and positional quickness. In addition, they have good solid shooting form which they have improved by using the best shooting drills. They are then able to blend the two skills to truly dominate on the offensive and defensive ends of the court.
Improving your foot quickness will improve your game and your shot. Because footwork is so important in the game of basketball (and shooting), I like to combine athletic skills with basketball skills on the court. This drill does just that. Make sure to focus on staying on the front half of your foot so that you are always in an athletic-balanced position on the court.
