When paddling with a group, it's always good etiquette to be ready to be out on the water at the time previously discussed, regardless of how much gear you have.
Also, it's great knowing ahead of time what to expect weather and conditions wise - as well as having safety gear needed to take care of yourself as well as others if needed. These are some of the rules I usually try to follow when paddling in a group.
