This video briefly covers the Maha-Maya Temple (महामाया मंदिर) at Jammu & the Cable Car Project site, just adjacent to it.

MahaMaya Temple or Moh Maya Temple (मोह माया मंदिर) as some locals call it is a prominent site on the outskirts of City of Temples, Jammu (J&K, India) in the City Forest - Jammu. It’s about 7 - 8 Km from the main city on Narwal – Sidra bypass (National highway bypass, Jammu).

Some people believe that the temple was built in the memory of a Dogra lady called Mahamaya. She is believed to have been a freedom fighter who laid down her life while confronting foreign invaders about 14 centuries ago. BUT as per the book 👉🏽 “Cities’ Identity Through Architecture and Art”, Page – 273, it says that the → “Historians believe that this temple was perhaps built in the ancient city of Dhara Nagri in the 15th century”. It is believed that before Jammu city was established on the right bank of river Tawi a settlement already existed on the left bank called Dhara Nagri. A small temple existed here in the forest with an idol of Goddess Maha Maya. It got damaged several times & rebuilt again but now no remains of the ancient temple exists.
