SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A new library is coming to Spokane Valley next month.
The Spokane County Library District says the new Spokane Valley Library at 22 N. Herald Road is scheduled to open on Saturday, June 17.
The 28,000-square-foot library has a large gathering space that can hold up to 200 people, a children's space with interactive learning areas, four conference rooms, computers, laptops, printers and more.
There is also artwork at the library, with some pieces coming from Harold Balazs, a Spokane-area artist who was commissioned to create the art for the first library in Spokane Valley.
The library was funded through a loan from the the Washington State Treasurer’s LOCAL program, SCLD’s capital fund savings, a grant from the Taxpayers of Washington State, a contribution from the City of Spokane Valley, and a community fundraising campaign. The budget for the library was $15 million.
Everyone is invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Spokane Valley Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.
