Hello Everyone!

Today we’re transforming a boring transparent tray into a glam gold and marble serving tray with a quick makeover. I’m continuing the theme of easy DIY item, craft, and furniture overhauls, upcycles, and makeovers with this serving tray. In this video I’ll show how you can use simple items to transform a plastic, nondescript item, into a custom piece that will add a bit of sparkle to the home and fit in with your existing home décor. While functional, I think this piece should be able to double as an ottoman tray and hold its own place among the home decorations.

This IKEA hack uses a cheap IKEA tray as the base for the project. It’s a great shape and size and is also lightweight and really inexpensive. The other items needed are gold spray paint, white or elmers glue and marble paper. I used wrapping paper, but marble contact paper would also work.

With some gold spray paint covering the bottom and top edges of the tray and gluing marble paper down on top, this DIY serving tray goes from boring to beautiful in under an hour (including the time it takes the paint to dry).

This is definitely one of the easiest, fasted, least expensive IKEA furniture makeovers I’ve done. I’m really impressed with how it turned out as well. I found marble contact paper and am linking that instead of the wrapping paper I used in the vid.
