US reports its 1st polio case in nearly a decade

An adult in New York has become the first US resident in nearly a decade to contract polio, state health officials said. Officials further said that the person was unvaccinated, adding that how or where the infected resident was exposed remains under evaluation. The last known US case of polio virus was recorded in 2013.
