Chinese robotaxi firm WeRide bought an AI company to drive into autonomous trucking #Shorts
Robo-taxi firm WeRide has completed purchase of MoonX.AI, hoping to expand into autonomous trucking. Guangzhou-based WeRide said in a statement today that 50 engineers from MoonX.AI will be joining the company to work on the project. MoonX.AI operates a fleet of more than 20 self-driving passenger vehicles and trucks, and has completed over 300,000 kilometers of open road tests in three Chinese cities. Founded in 2017, WeRide started offering robotaxi services in the southern city of Guangzhou two years ago. It secured 310 million US dollars in its Series C round of financing last month, sending its market cap to 3.3 billion US dollars.
