New world record from national athlete Şahika Ercümen on the 100th anniversary of the Republic
HATAY (AA) - National athlete Şahika Ercümen broke the 105 meter world record with 106 meters in the variable weight category without fins, in the trial she held in Hatay, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
Şahika Ercümen completed her challenging training for the record attempt, which was organized with the slogan "Be a breath of fresh air for Hatay" to raise awareness in the earthquake zone.
The athlete, who entered the water off the Karamağara Bay of Yayladağı district, broke the 105-meter world record held by Serbian Lena Balta in the variable weight category without fins, with her 106-meter performance.
