-This is the complete radio broadcast of the May 14, 1967 Orioles-Yankees game in which Mickey Mantle would hit his 500th home run. Joe Garagiola, Phil Rizzuto and Jerry Coleman call the game. I have included the surviving videotape footage of the Mantle HR at the moment it occurs. Garagiola calls it on radio. To hear Jerry Coleman's TV call, check it out here. [ Ссылка ]
-After the main game broadcast, the recording switches to the WPIX-TV audio and lets us hear Mantle's postgame TV interview with Coleman. Then after a brief silence the recording switches back to the postgame radio show wrap-up hosted by Marv Albert.
-This year marked the debut of the "Here Comes The Yankees" song on Yankee broadcasts. It was also the first year that Ballantine Beer was no longer a Yankee sponsor after nearly two decades (you'll notice the Yankees have separate beer sponsors on radio and TV!). This game was the only bright spot in a Yankee season that saw them finish ninth in the American League. They would not win another pennant until 1976.
