As part of the preparation work for the Dover Western Docks Revival (DWDR), this time-lapse video covers the Prince of Wales Pier height reduction work which took place during May, June and July. Over the 14 week period the steel sheet piled section of the pier, originally constructed for the Hoverport in the late 1970’s, and the original seaward ramp were reduced in height.
All heritage items were carefully removed prior to the height reduction work commencing, and were photographed, catalogued and transferred to Cruise Terminal 1 (CT1), to comply with the Listed Building Consents. The design makes provisions for the heritage items to be reintroduced into key areas of the regenerated water front.
