Most Metal Roofs Are Not Square. Before You Begin Your Metal Roofing Installation You Will Need To Learn How To Square A Metal Roof.
Learning how to start a roof straight is one of the first steps that's required in a metal roofing installation. If you don't learn how to square the metal roofing panels they will drift off at an undesirable angle.

Standing Seam Installation Guide
[ Ссылка ]
This video will cover metal roofing installation instructions that are for both standing seam metal roofing and corrugated metal roofing panels. When you have a standing seam metal roofing installation or a corrugated metal roofing installation, one of the first steps is to chalk out a true square reference line.
This will serve as a guide to insure that you're panels are going on straight. It's the first step when learning how to start a metal roof square. This will serve as a guide to insure that your panels are going on straight. The best way to chalk this line is to use a true square right triangle.
What is a 3 4 5 triangle?
It's a true right angle triangle that's based upon the Pythagorean Theorem. It's a simple method that uses a triangle that starts out with measurements of 3 out, 4 up, and 5 across. This is why it's referred to as a 3, 4, 5 triangle.
Are there other multiples of the 3 by 4 by 5 triangle?
Yes, any triangle whose sides are in the ratio of a 3,4,5 is a right triangle.
For larger roofs you can use any ratio of the 3 4 5 measurements.
What is a 6, 8, 10 triangle?
It's double the ratio of the 3, 4, 5 angles and it's a right triangle.
Metal Roofing Installation Instructions
How To Square A Metal Roof. The 3, 4, 5 Triangle Method.
Step by step instructions
1. Mark a starting point at the corner of the roof. 12" from the gable and 12" from the eave. This will be your starting point and referred to as mark "1".
2. From the first mark, measure across the eave of your roof in the desired multiple of three.
3. Mark the intersection of the distance from mark "1" and 12" from the eave. This will insure that the line is parallel to the eave. This will be referred to as mark "2".
4. From mark "1" measure upwards in your multiple of 4. This will be referred to as mark "3".
5. From mark "2" measure towards mark "3" in your multiple of 5. Mark where the measurement intersects with the third mark. This is referred to as the "Final" mark
6. Snap a string line from mark "1" to "final" mark
Example for these instructions is a 12,16, 20 triangle.
The distance between mark 1 and 2 is 12"
The distance between mark 1 and 3 is 16"
The distance between mark 2 and 3 is 20"
Where the measurement intersects with the 3rd mark is the final mark.
The distance between mark 2 and 3 is 20"
This is the true perpendicular line to your eave. Constantly references this line when installing your corrugated metal roofing or standing seam metal roofing panels will insure that the metal roofing sheets remain straight.
Create additional guidelines every 8 to 10 feet from your first reference line. Simply measure across from the top and bottom and snap a chalk line between the two marks.
