It's finally been done. After months of work, outside drift bikes--for the first time in the game's history--hold a no glitch 3lap world record.

Following many hours of attempts that didn't quite pull through, I finally managed to complete another 3lap run. Lucky for me, it was good enough to beat the best known flame runner time.

For those who are unfamiliar with this tech, it is called "outside drift bike momentum," or "odm" for short. It relies on the mechanic by which outside drift bikes (odb) specifically can gain small amounts of external velocity on ramps, jumps, and ledges by counterdrifting followed by a hard flick in the direction of motion. If you watch my inputs, you'll see that I do this on basically every mushroom and jump panel. It has niche uses in odb time trials, but a significant fraction of Mushroom Gorge is trick ramps and airtime, thereby allowing outside drift bikes to be faster than the stereotypical inside drift bike meta.

I intend on making an in-depth explanation of everything I've learned playing this track, but it will likely take a month or two as I am rather busy with school right now and have been spending all of my free time working toward this. Lap 1: Good start odm, but I've had better. Good cavern and solid lap time. Note that my bks L1 is a 32.6xx.

Lap 2: Start odm looked fine, but I let go of drift before hitting the mushroom after the bridge. Probably didn't make too much of a difference in the end. Cavern was good. I didn't trick off the last mushroom because I would have gotten too much air. In testing, it doesn't seem to lose a significant amount of time when done well (which I recovered it fairly well here).

Lap 3: Bad start odm that ended up working out. I BARELY clutched up the second half of cavern with the trick to get just enough air. I'm surprised I recovered it given my nerves at the time. Just shy of the sub, which is unfortunate. Still grateful for the finishing time, though.
