While shooting video for the Ben Aipa Paddle Out Celebration, I quizzed a few of the bystanders about the famous Garbage Hole surf break that used to be across the channel from Ala Moana Bowls. The break was destroyed when Magic Island was built. John Kelly and Sparky were so upset that they formed the Save Our Surf group to never let the Hawaii government destroy another surf spot.
