Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Erickson ratchet tie-down strap with the included strap wrapper and the double J-hook design. Now this is a very strong, heavy duty tie-down strap that lets you secure large cargo in your truck bed or trailer. The Velcro strap wrapper hold excess strap in place. That way, you don't have to tie off excess and that's gonna prevent the unused strap form tangling or flapping in the wind as you go down the road. The ratcheting mechanism is this large area right here. Makes it very easy to tighten down the strap, maintains tension on the strap.
It's got the nice, wide handle. The reason why I like that is if you're wearing gloves, it makes it very easy to gain access, to get your hand in there, and to easily ratchet the strap down to get the proper tension you need for hauling your load safely. Again, it's got indentions, easy to grip design. Release lever right there is easily accessible as you hold onto the large handle. Now these hooks are a steel construction.
They're vinyl coated and it's a double J-hook design. So that's gonna help prevent scratches to your cargo and it provides a very strong, secure connection point. The ratchet mechanism is a steel construction with protective finishing on it so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion. Then the yellow strap is made from a durable polyester webbing. Now the strap itself measures 2 inches wide by 27 feet long. The unit features a safe working load limit of 3300 pounds with a maximum load or break strength of 10,000 pounds.
Just keep in mind that tie down straps must me chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secure cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. I'm gonna go ahead and show you how to set the unit up for use, so basically what you want to do is you want to find the bare end of the strap. You want to take it through this side of the mechanism and let's make a U-turn with that strap and bring it right back out over the top of that center spindle area just like that. Now you can go ahead and pull the slack out once you have your anchors in place. Release lever right here disengages it from the gear or from the teeth.
Then that allows you to start ratcheting down to apply the tension you need. Once you have it all the way tightened, you pull that lever, move it down into a locked position. When you're ready to release the tension, just open the unit all the way up. That's gonna allow you to release the tension. You can remove the strap completely. Then you can undo or unload your gear from your trailer or truck bed. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Erickson ratchet tie-down strap with the strap wrapper and the double J-hook design.
